Quote Assignment

Cinna “O Cassisu if you could but win Brutus to our party—

Cassius “Be you content. Good Cinna take this paper And look you lay it in the Praetors chair where Brutus may say.

When Julius Ceaser rose to power he betrayed the principals of the republic while creating many powerful enemies most whom resided in the Senate. The conversation between Cinna and Cassius shows the discontent that was brewing in the senate. It also foreshadows the plot that was hatched and the later execution of Julius Ceaser.

This is significant because it shows how Cinna and Cassius are truly devoted to the republic. They will undoubtedly betray Ceaser to restore the republic. This foreshadowing of the future betrayal is the most important part of this passage.
